FAQ
Here’s everything you need to know before working with us.
Do you work across the entire UK?
Yes, RDS 360 provides survey, space planning, design, and BIM services across the entire UK. We work on projects ranging from high street flagships to out-of-town retail parks, shopping centres, transport hubs, and commercial offices throughout the country. Our teams are experienced in working across multiple sites simultaneously for rollout programmes.
Can you handle multi-site rollout programmes?
Absolutely. We specialise in multi-site rollouts, providing scalable solutions that maintain brand consistency while accommodating site-specific variations. Our rollout services include developing space planning standards, design templates and concession formats that reduce delivery time and control costs across your portfolio. We've successfully delivered rollout programmes for major national retailers.
What's your turnaround time for measured surveys?
We deliver measured building surveys efficiently, with typical turnaround times of 1-2 weeks from site visit to final CAD deliverables, depending on project complexity. For urgent projects or rollout programmes requiring multiple surveys, we can scale our surveying teams accordingly. Laser scanning projects follow similar timescales, with point cloud data and coordinated BIM models delivered promptly to keep your project on schedule.
Do your surveys integrate with our design and construction workflows?
Yes. Our surveys are delivered in industry-standard formats including DWG, DXF, PDF for 2D drawings, and Revit or other BIM formats for 3D models. Point cloud data is provided in RCP, RCS and E57 formats. This ensures seamless integration with your existing design teams, contractors and project workflows. Our scan-to-BIM service creates coordinated models that connect directly to design and construction processes.
Can you maintain design intent through to technical delivery?
Maintaining design intent from concept through to technical pack is central to our approach. Our design services span strategy and concept, design and documentation, and visualisation ensuring your creative vision translates accurately into buildable technical drawings. We work as an extension of your design team, providing detailed specifications that prevent value engineering from compromising the original design during construction.
Do you provide 3D visualisations for stakeholder presentations?
Yes, we produce photorealistic 3D renders, 360° views and fly-through animations rapidly. Our visualisations help retail design teams test concepts internally, communicate design value to non-design stakeholders, and secure approvals. We also provide 4D construction sequencing visualisations for complex projects requiring detailed planning and phasing.
What's the difference between your survey services and BIM services?
Our survey services capture accurate spatial data through measured building surveys, laser scanning, topographical surveys and Matterport 3D tours. Our BIM services transform that survey data into intelligent, coordinated 3D models with embedded asset information. Scan-to-BIM is where these capabilities connect, we use laser scan point clouds to create detailed BIM models that reveal structural elements, services and spatial constraints essential for refurbishment planning and clash detection.
Can you support both new developments and refurbishment projects?
Yes, our services cover the full spectrum from new store openings and developments through to refurbishments, refits and space optimisation. For new developments, we provide feasibility studies, concept design and full technical packs. For refurbishments, our scan-to-BIM capability reveals existing site constraints before design work begins, preventing costly surprises during construction and keeping programmes on track.
Do you work with landlords on tenant fit-out projects?
Yes, we regularly work with landlords, asset managers and property teams. We provide accurate measured surveys and Matterport 3D tours that can be shared with prospective tenants, supporting faster leasing decisions. Our surveys document existing conditions accurately, coordinate landlord requirements with tenant designs, and provide the technical information needed for smooth fit-out approvals and delivery.
What file formats do you deliver?
We deliver in industry-standard formats to suit your workflow. 2D surveys: DWG, DXF, PDF. 3D models: Revit, ArchiCAD, SketchUp. Point cloud data: RCP, E57, LAS. Matterport tours: interactive web links and embedded viewers. BIM models can include COBie data for facilities management handover. We're flexible and can accommodate specific format requirements for your project team.
How do you handle data security and confidentiality?
We treat all client data with strict confidentiality. Survey data, designs and project information are stored securely and shared only with authorised project team members. We're experienced in working with major retailers and understand the importance of protecting commercially sensitive information, unreleased store concepts and proprietary layouts.
Can you provide examples of similar projects?
We've successfully delivered projects for major UK retailers including M&S, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Waitrose, John Lewis and many others across retail, food and beverage, and commercial sectors. While we maintain client confidentiality on specific project details, we're happy to discuss our relevant experience and capabilities during initial consultations. Our 25+ years in the industry means we bring proven expertise to every project type.
What makes RDS 360 different from other design and survey companies?
Our integrated 360° approach. Most companies offer either surveys or design or BIM—we deliver all four capabilities (survey, design, space planning, BIM) seamlessly connected. This means fewer handovers, better coordination, and projects that flow smoothly from survey through to delivery. We maintain design intent, provide accurate technical data, and deliver with the speed retail and property teams need for tight refurbishment and rollout schedules.
